SWAPO Party Vice President and Presidential candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said that their vision for economic growth is deeply rooted in the principles of industrialization and diversification.
Nandi-Ndaitwah made the remarks during the opening of the SWAPO Election Manifesto Public Discussion held in the capital on Monday.
According to Nandi-Ndaitwah, the days of relying on one or two key sectors must be left behind.
“Through targeted support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and focused industrial strategies, we can create sustainable jobs and ensure that wealth is spread across our society rather than being concentrated in the hands of just a few,” she said.
She added that the SWAPO Party is committed to broadening economic participation to uplift marginalized communities and foster innovation.
Nandi-Ndaitwah indicated that Namibia’s future rests on the shoulders of its youth, and they will continue to invest in education, sports, and the creative industry to ensure their success.
She stressed that their commitment to quality education and skills development is not only about creating jobs but also about ensuring that young people have the tools to innovate and lead in a competitive global economy.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said that the 2025-2030 SWAPO Party Election Manifesto outlines the SWAPO Party’s vision for the future.
“It is not just a set of ideals; it is a commitment to action, a framework designed to address the pressing issues of our time. It is a blueprint for inclusive economic growth, youth empowerment, job creation, healthcare, and social welfare,” she added.
Moreover, Nandi-Ndaitwah said infrastructure and housing remain key areas that not only provide immediate employment opportunities but also improve the quality of life for citizens.
She said that access to clean energy, improved logistics, and accelerated land delivery and reform are critical to their vision of a prosperous Namibia.
Nandi-Ndaitwah also said that land reform in the Namibian context is very critical, and she was pleased that one of the sessions would focus on this subject, as they need to find a strategy to utilize land for the benefit of all Namibians.
She highlighted that their Manifesto places great emphasis on universal healthcare access, aiming to ensure that no Namibian is left behind.
“We will continue to expand access to quality healthcare services, improve public health infrastructure, and offer stronger social safety nets to protect our most vulnerable populations,” she stressed.
