A NAMIBIAN woman in Aranos has sued the Ministry of Health and Social Services, demanding a total of N$1 million, after slipping and falling on a wet floor in Katutura Hospital and suffering an ankle injury.
According to court documents, the woman alleges that she was admitted to Katutura Hospital on or about 25 November 2024 for an unrelated illness and was discharged on 4 December 2024. When she was about to leave Ward 6B, she stepped on a wet floor caused by a water leakage and slipped and fell.
It is alleged that the woman was unaware that the floor was wet, as no caution sign had been placed to warn her of the hazardous condition of the wet floor, and after she slipped and fell, she was unable to move on her own due to the severe pain from the fall.
As a result of the fall, she allegedly sustained a Transsyndesmotic Fibular Fracture on her left ankle and, as a consequence, has lost her income as she is unable to perform her domestic worker duties and is in severe pain and suffering.
She alleges that the aforesaid damage suffered by her was caused by the negligence of the Health Ministry and, alternatively, its employees.
