A WINDHOEK homeowner managed to overpower three suspects who allegedly broke into his property and attacked him, as police investigate multiple housebreaking incidents reported in Katima Mulilo, Ongwediva, Oshivelo and Rundu.
According to the police weekend crime report, in Windhoek’s Eros area, three unknown suspects allegedly attempted to rob a resident after gaining entry to a property between midnight and 02:00 on Saturday.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly entered through the back, bushy side of the yard after cutting the boundary fence with an unknown object.
One of the suspects allegedly attacked the victim with a crowbar, striking him on the head, while another suspect was reportedly armed with a knife.
Police said the one victim managed to overpower the suspects, who fled the scene without taking any items.
In Katima Mulilo, a housebreaking and theft incident was reported on Friday, between 13:00 and 14:00.
It is alleged that the suspect used an unknown object to break a window handle and flat bar before gaining entry into the house and stealing mobile devices.
Meanwhile, in Ongwediva, suspects allegedly broke into a house on Friday at around 12:20.
The suspects allegedly forced open the house door and stole electronic appliances and mobile devices.
The homeowner, who was not at home at the time, reportedly received an alarm notification and alerted a neighbour to check the property.
The suspects allegedly fled in a grey Volkswagen Polo with an Oshakati registration number.
In Oshivelo, unknown suspects allegedly broke into a house and two guest rooms at a Guest Farm on Friday evening.
Police said the suspects allegedly entered the rooms while guests were having dinner at the restaurant and stole items valued at approximately N$134 000.
No arrests or recoveries have been made.
In Rundu’s Sunshine area, a housebreaking incident was also reported on Friday at around 20:00.
It is alleged that the suspect broke a burglar door and forced open a wooden door to gain entry before stealing the complainant’s belongings.
Police said no arrests or recoveries have been made, and investigations into all incidents are continuing.
