Three people die in separate road accidents

THREE Namibian men died in separate road accidents reported in the Otjozondjupa, Omusati and //Kharas regions over the weekend, with police investigations continuing into the crashes.

According to the police weekend crime report, in the first incident, a 32-year-old Namibian man died after the vehicle he was travelling in overturned on the C31 road, about 60km from Okahandja towards Hochfeld on Saturday.

According to the police, the driver of a light blue Volkswagen Polo allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

The driver allegedly fled the scene after the crash, while the passenger died on the spot.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed, and police investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Namibian man died after he was allegedly struck by an unknown vehicle while crossing the Oshakati–Omungwelume main road at Ohalushu Village on Saturday.

Police said the driver failed to stop after the accident and fled the scene.

The pedestrian died at the scene, and his next of kin were informed.

In Aussenkehr, a 52-year-old Namibian man died after the Toyota Urban Cruiser he was driving overturned on the C13 main road, about 1km from the Aussenkehr Shopping Mall, on Saturday.

Police said the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve, resulting in the vehicle overturning.

He died at the scene, and his next of kin were informed.

Police investigations into all three incidents are continuing.
