NAMPOST has reported progress in strengthening operations, expanding access to services and advancing digital transformation during its Annual General Meeting (AGM), while also declaring an N$8 million dividend to the Government of Namibia.
The AGM, held in Windhoek, brought together the NamPost Board and Executive Committee, led by Board Chairperson Dr. Simeon Amunkete and Acting CEO Eldorette Harmse, and Information and Communication Technology Minister Emma Theofelus. The meeting provided an update on the entity’s 2024/2025 financial statements and overall business operations.
Theofelus praised the organisation for broadening access to postal and financial services nationwide, noting that its network of 148 service points remains critical, particularly in rural areas where it often serves as the only financial service provider. She added that while notable milestones have been achieved, there is still room for the entity to further enhance its performance.
NamPost highlighted progress under its digital transformation programme, “Project Sky,” launched in 2023 to modernise operations. Initiatives include the rollout of digital money transfer services, digital registered mail and automated customer account opening processes.
The entity also reported upgrades to its ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity systems and banking platforms, aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening digital service delivery.
In efforts to expand financial inclusion, NamPost is piloting the rollout of ATMs at selected post office branches and participating in Namibia’s Instant Payment Platform (IPP) to facilitate faster and more accessible digital transactions.
Despite economic pressures and the ongoing global decline in traditional mail services, NamPost reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, financial sustainability and expanding access to affordable postal and financial services across the country.
