President receives Russian delegation, reaffirms bilateral cooperation

PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Russia following a courtesy visit by a high-level Russian delegation, which also briefed her on outcomes of the 11th Namibia–Russia Intergovernmental Commission session.

The delegation, led by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev, met the President at State House, where he and Minister of International Relations and Trade Selma Ashipala-Musavyi provided an update on discussions and resolutions taken during the Commission’s 11th Session.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the engagement reflects the strong and longstanding ties between Namibia and the Russian Federation, adding that government remains committed to deepening cooperation in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, defence, education and people-to-people relations.

Trutnev expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended to his delegation, noting that the visit includes a group of Russian business representatives. He said the visit is expected to open up opportunities for meaningful business engagements and expanded economic cooperation between the two countries.
