THE Namibian Police Force has discovered human skeletal remains in rural Windhoek in the Satanslog area, believed to be those of missing man Beautus Tuna Kashanu Iiyambo.

Iiyambo, a 26-year-old man from Onakaheke village in the Okahao Constituency of the Omusati Region, went missing on 12 January, a day after he arrived in Windhoek to start employment as a kapana seller.

Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, national spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), said the police attended to a scene involving suspected human skeletal remains discovered in a mountainous area approximately eight kilometres west of Otjomuise, in the Satanslog area, outside Windhoek.

“It is alleged that on 18 August 2026, a man who was herding goats in the area came across what appeared to be human skeletal remains. He informed a fellow worker, and the two subsequently returned to the area on 19 August 2026. The matter was reported to the Otjomuise Police Station during the late evening of the same day; however, the police attended to the scene on the morning of 20 August 2026,” Shikwambi said.

She added that several items were recovered at the scene, including one pair of brown khaki trousers, one grey Puma jersey, one pair of Havaianas sandals, an FNB bank card, a Bank Windhoek BOB card, cash, a voter registration card and a Namibian National Identity Card.

The identification documents and financial cards bear the name Iiyambo Beatus Tuna Kashanu, who was born in Onakaheke. Iiyambo Beatus Tuna Kashanu was reported missing on 12 January 2026.

“The remains were transported to the Namibian Police Forensic Science Institute, where forensic experts are conducting further examinations to establish the biological identity of the remains through DNA analysis. An autopsy will also be conducted to determine whether there are any indications of trauma or other findings that may assist the investigation,” Shikwambi said.

She concluded that the Namibian Police Force was continuing with the investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and the identity of the remains.

“We appreciate the cooperation of members of the public and appeal to anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting Deputy Commissioner Fredrik Ndjadila on 081 2652 322 or the nearest police station,” Shikwambi urged.
