City of Windhoek to disconnect overdue electricity accounts

Staff Reporter

THE City of Windhoek will begin a citywide credit control operation from 2 March 2026, involving the disconnection and reconnection of conventional electricity services for residents and businesses with overdue accounts.

The municipality has appointed Faradays Electrical and Mechanical CC to carry out the work in line with the City of Windhoek’s Credit Control Policy and applicable municipal legislation. The operation will apply to all suburbs in the capital.

Disconnections and reconnections will be conducted during normal working hours, from 07:30 to 16:30. Affected account holders are required to cooperate and grant access to their premises as provided for in the City’s Credit Control Policy.

The City said authorised contractors can be identified by valid City of Windhoek access cards and Faradays Electrical and Mechanical CC-branded personal protective equipment (PPE).

Residents and business owners who have concerns or suspect unauthorised individuals claiming to act on behalf of the City are advised to verify such visits with the City of Windhoek Contact Centre on 061 290 3777, or via email at CallCentre@windhoekcc.org.na or CreditControl@windhoekcc.org.na.
