OTJIWARONGO-BASED magistrate Billy Lutuka did not turn up at Ondangwa where the bail application of medical doctor Fillemon Nakanduungile was scheduled for a ruling today.
The case has been postponed to Monday next week, and Nakanduungile’s attempted murder charge was changed to murder following the death of state prosecutor Justine Shiweda.
Shiweda was shot, attacked with an acidic substance, and her vehicle damaged by a group of people in October last year. She had been under intensive medical care until Saturday, when she succumbed to her wounds.
Nakanduungile, who is remanded in custody at Grootfontein, is accused together with several others, namely: former police officer Abner Mateus, Police Sergeant Mateus Shipingana, Petrus Uusiku, Selma Bahn, Johannes Nghilifavali, Petrus Shikwaya, and Lukas Nekwiyu.
Meanwhile, a state prosecutor informed the court that the unavailability of the magistrate has to do with unpaid subsistence and travel allowances.
