ANOTHER THREAT: An anonymous source has presented a note to the Informanté in which the Control Prosecutor at the Grootfontein Magistrates Court was allegedly warned to step down or possibly face a violent attack. The Control Prosecutor, Kristiana Erastus, is said to have received the note, which stated: “Do not let the Ondangwa incident repeat itself in Grootfontein. Transfer yourself; even your own colleagues and the Grootfontein community don’t like you. Go early before it’s late,” the note reads.
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the note was forwarded to him by Erastus this morning and that this is not the first time there has been an attack on Erastus, as all four of his car tyres had allegedly been slashed in 2024. The source alleges that Erastus has faced animosity following his prosecution of individuals who are structurally connected.
The Prosecutor General, Martha Imalwa, confirmed the incident and added that the police have been notified and that the matter is under investigation. She added that the said note was also circulated with the police and that discussions are being held on how best to maintain the safety of judicial officers. “We are taking this issue very seriously,” Imalwa said.
The incident follows the tragic death of Ondangwa Prosecutor Justine Shiweda, who succumbed to her injuries over the weekend after being doused with highly corrosive substances and being shot for allegedly refusing to take a bribe in a case involving a bail matter of police officer Abner Mateus, who is said to have orchestrated the attack. After being hospitalised in October 2025, Shiweda succumbed to her injuries four months later. The mastermind of the attack and his co-accused’s charges have since been amended from attempted murder to murder.
