The Namibian Police (NamPol) are on the hunt for a fellow police officer who fled after allegedly selling drugs to a trial-awaiting inmate in Walvis Bay.
According to the weekend crime bulletin, the incident happened on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at about 10:30 at Tutaleni Police Station.
It is alleged that an on-duty male Constable, a NamPol member (suspect), unlawfully and intentionally brought cannabis to the police station, took it to the holding cells and handed it over to a trial-awaiting inmate, who hid the contraband on his body.
The complainant detected the suspicious movements of both suspects and decided to approach the inmate. Upon investigation, he discovered 20 small bags and two big plastic bags of cannabis on the inmate. The value is still to be determined. The 35-year-old male police constable ran away after the incident and has not yet been arrested. The 25-year-old male trial-awaiting inmate is currently being held at the Tutaleni Police holding cells. Police investigations continue.
In another case, a 28-year-old man was also arrested for the possession of mandrax tablets and cannabis on Friday, at about 18:00 to 19:00, on the M112 Road in Okondjatu.
It is alleged that the 28-year-old Namibian male was arrested after he was found with two bags of dagga and 15 full tablets of mandrax during a police operation. The value of the substances is not yet determined. The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 2 February 2026. Police investigations continue.
In another case, a 48-year-old Namibian male suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of 10 full mandrax tablets during a police operation. The incident happened on Friday at about 11:00 at the fish shop behind Woermann Brock Groceries, Tseiblaagte, Keetmanshoop.
In another case in Keetmanshoop, a 34-year-old Namibian male suspect was arrested after it is alleged that he brought food and two 1-litre containers of omaere milk to a police station. Upon inspection, in the presence of the suspect, police found 13 bankies of cannabis weighing 21 grams inside and seized them. The incident happened on Saturday at about 15:30 at Keetmanshoop Police Station.
