PARENTS are advised that schools across Namibia will be closed on Tuesday, 25 November, Wednesday, 26 November, and Thursday, 27 November 2025 due to the upcoming Regional Council and Local Authority Elections. Normal school activities will resume on Friday, 28 November 2025.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has declared Wednesday, 26 November, a public holiday to allow citizens to participate in the elections. The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture also announced that Tuesday, 25 November, and Thursday, 27 November will be observed as school holidays.

The decision, issued in a circular by Executive Director Mbumba Erastus Haitengela, informs principals, school boards, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders of the revised school calendar. Hostels will remain open on 25 November and throughout the election period to accommodate learners who rely on boarding facilities.

The Ministry further clarified that the last school day for learners will be Friday, 5 December 2025, and the last working day for teachers, hostel staff, and institutional workers will be Tuesday, 9 December 2025. All school reports must be issued by 9 December 2025.

The Ministry urged regional and school leadership, as well as education stakeholders, to take note of the revised schedule and plan accordingly.
