THE former mayor of Walvis Bay, Wilfred Immanuel, appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court after being arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on charges of money laundering.
Immanuel faced two charges, which include corruptly using his office or position for gratification, as well as another count for contravening the Prevention of Organised Crime Act for acquiring property which is the proceeds of crime – money laundering on diverse occasions.
He was released on bail of N$10 000. The case has been postponed to 8 December 2025.
It was reported in the past that Immanuel and his son rented government industrial land and had fraudulently underpaid for the property.
