THE Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, has expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of the work completed thus far at the Okaoko-Otavi Correctional Facility Project in the Kunene Region.
Minister Iipumbu visited the project site to assess progress on Thursday.
She was accompanied by the head of the Namibian Correctional Service (NCS), Commissioner-General Raphael Hamunyela, and Regional Governor Vipuakuje Muharukua.






The Minister commended the NCS for the impressive pace of construction, noting that the facility is on track to be completed ahead of schedule.
The new correctional facility will serve multiple purposes, including operating as an agricultural farm specialising in crop production. It will also feature a fully equipped clinic with a resident doctor to serve correctional officers, inmates, and the surrounding community.
