THE number of political parties in Namibia continues to grow, having reached the record number of 25 after two more political bodies were registered by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) recently.
The ECN announced the legal recognition of NAPPA (the Namibia Progressive Party) and PUC (the People United for Change). Both parties received their certificates of registration at the ECN headquarters in Windhoek this week.
Wilson Hange, an educationalist from the Otjombinde Constituency in the Omaheke Region, is the authorised representative of NAPPA.

The PUC’s authorised representative is Ernestus Axakhoeb, who describes himself on his Facebook page as “a Change Agent, a kingdom ruler, a people’s man and the Man of God.” He is a pastor of the Christian Mission of Jesus Christ and was once a trainee chef at Namdeb.
The latest political formations bring the total number of registered political parties in Namibia to 25.
Of the then-existing 23 political parties, only 18 fielded candidates in the November 2024 presidential elections, and only 21 participated in the National Assembly elections.
Of the 21, only thirteen obtained seats in Parliament.
