A FARM-WORKER has been arrested for livestock theft after he was allegedly caught red-handed slaughtering a cow at Farm Eland Post in the Otavi Constituency of the Otjozondjupa Region on Friday.
The 39-year-old suspect secretly slaughtered a cow but was caught in the act by a co-worker. According to the police, the suspect fled the scene, and the incident was reported to the police.
The police officers traced and arrested him.
The value of the cow is estimated at N$10,000.
Meanwhile, the police in the Oshikoto Region are investigating a case of livestock theft after four unknown suspects slaughtered a cow at Emanya Lodge at Oshivelo on Saturday morning.
It is alleged that the suspects were seen on CCTV while they were busy slaughtering the cow, and the police were promptly alerted.
“The police officers responded to the report but only found meat hidden in the bushes without being skinned, as it was just cut into pieces with the skin on,” said the police.
The area was searched thoroughly, but no suspect was traced or arrested.
The value of the cow is N$15,000.
