THE //Kharas Regional Council and Hyphen Hydrogen Energy have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster sustainable development and create job opportunities in the region.
“This partnership marks a major step towards economic growth, job creation, and renewable energy innovation. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for the //Kharas region,” the Ministry of Information’s //Kharas Regional Office explained.

The signing ceremony was attended by Regional Governor Aletha Frederick, Regional Chairperson Joseph Isaacks, Hyphen’s Head of Environment and Social Governance, and other officials, including the Mayor of Lüderitz Town Council.
This agreement comes less than a month after Hyphen signed a similar MoU with the Hardap Regional Council to support local skills development and capacity building. Hyphen emphasised that these efforts are part of its broader strategy to address skills gaps in Namibia’s Green Hydrogen sector, support workforce development, and drive sustainable growth and employment, particularly in the south.
“By leveraging collective expertise and resources, impactful solutions can be created that directly address local challenges and support the development of a skilled workforce. This will, in turn, drive sustainable growth and employment,” Hyphen said.
