THE Northern Electricity Distribution (NORED) has confirmed that Abel Ashiyana Kayembo, an electrician, was electrocuted while on duty on Monday.
NORED spokesperson Simon Lukas told Informanté that Kayembo was electrocuted around 11:20 at Yinsu Village in the Kavango West Region, under the Nkurenkuru Centre of Operations.
According to Lukas, NORED has commissioned the appointment of an external, independent industry expert to investigate and assess the circumstances and root causes that led to this unfortunate fatal incident.
“As we process this heartbreaking loss, this incident will remain a painful reminder of the critical responsibility we bear in raising safety awareness, upholding the highest safety standards, and continuously nurturing a culture where every employee and member of the public is educated to prioritize and observe safety above all,” he said.
He reaffirmed NORED’s commitment and dedication to ensuring that the safety of its workforce, the general public, and the community of the Kavango West Region is upheld at all times.
