Ondangwa residents urged to keep water channels clean

THE Ondangwa Town Council has urged all residents to ensure that they keep the town’s water channels clean at all times.

This comes after the Council noticed with concern the ongoing illegal dumping of waste in various areas.

Town spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said that maintaining clean water channels is essential, as it helps prevent flooding, reduces health risks, improves sanitation, and extends the lifespan of infrastructure.

Additionally, Shitalangaho-Mutikisha indicated that it promotes environmental protection and enhances the town’s overall appearance, ensuring that it is a healthier and safer environment for everyone.

“They say rain brings blessings, and when our town receives an abundance of it, our technical team works twice as hard to repair roads and clear water channels,” she said.

She added that the Council understands that maintaining clean water channels is not just a task—it’s essential for a thriving town.

Furthermore, Shitalangaho-Mutikisha called on residents to keep waste out of the channels and report blockages at all times.

She then reminded residents that illegal dumping is not just harmful to the environment but also a punishable offense.

“As responsible residents, let’s do our part by keeping our drainage channels clean. Avoid disposing of waste in them,” she concluded.
