FOLLOWING the passing of Founding President Sam Nujoma, condolence books have been opened at various regional and local authorities.
The opening of condolence books allows people from all walks of life to express their grief and gratitude for the role Founding President Nujoma played in the liberation and development of Namibia.
His legacy as a liberation hero and the first president of the nation is deeply cherished, and these books provide a platform for people to record their personal messages of condolence and appreciation.
In Okahao, Town Mayor Alderwoman Cornelia Iiyambula officially opened the condolence book at the municipal office on Wednesday, where a dedicated corner table has been set up for this purpose, allowing residents to express their heartfelt messages of sympathy and remembrance.
Helao Nafidi Town Mayor Darius Shaalukeni also opened a condolence book on Friday for all residents within the town.
“A book of condolence is now available for signing at our reception. Those who wish to pay their final respects and send their tributes can now do so,” he said.
He indicated that the book is open from Monday to Friday, from 08h00 to 17h00.
Meanwhile, Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga also opened a book of condolence on Wednesday to honour the late Founding President.
During the launch, Ndeitunga emphasized the Founding President’s immense contribution to the nation, describing him as a selfless and visionary leader whose unwavering dedication will be remembered for generations.
Similarly, Oshana Region Governor Elia Irimari also opened a condolence book.
Irimari and the Angolan Consulate were the first to sign the book of condolence at the regional governor’s office.
The book is available at the Office of the Governor and is open to all residents who wish to pay tribute.
