GOING on holiday and leaving a house unattended has proven costly for a female resident of Ondangwa, who lost items valued at N$21,605 after unknown burglars broke into her house and stole various valuable items.
Her neighbours became suspicious when they observed strangers walking down the street carrying blankets, a television set, and an assortment of bags. They tracked the footprints backwards to identify their origin and discovered that their neighbour’s house had been broken into.
“The complainant received a call from her neighbour while she was away on holiday, informing her that her house had been broken into,” said the police.
Stolen items included a Telefunken TV, a hair clipper, bedding, shoes, jewellery, clothes, a screw nail gun, and a Hisense cellphone.
Police officers who attended the scene tracked the suspects to the Uupopo informal settlement, where they eventually lost the trail.
