LAINA Mwetupunga was recently crowned the winner of the Meme Dingi competition held at Oshilemba village in the Omusati Region.

Meanwhile, Naemi Sheyaouyuni and Tresia Hipepaali were awarded second and third place, respectively.

Competition organizer Ndawana Ndume said that Meme Dingi is a competition for women aimed at showcasing traditional cultural attire and skills.

According to Ndume, the organizers plan to host events in schools, particularly secondary schools, to educate learners about the importance of celebrating their cultures and traditions.

“We want our little ones to know the importance of preserving their culture and the various dos and don’ts associated with it,” he said.

He added that the campaign will be spearheaded by Mwetupunga, the winner of the Meme Dingi competition.

Mwetupunga expressed her hope that every child will spend their first ten years rooted in understanding their cultures and traditions.

Ndume emphasized that this will be an annual event aimed at promoting Namibia’s diverse cultures.
