Body of eight-month-old baby discovered in skip bin

A CASE of murder, or alternatively concealment of birth, has been reported in the Erongo region after the body of a newborn, believed to be between seven to eight months old, was discovered in a skip bin in Swakopmund.

According to the weekend crime bulletin, the discovery was made on Saturday, 12 October 2024, at around 08:00 on Fransisca Van Neel Street, Tamariskia location, Swakopmund.

“The body of a fully developed newborn male child, estimated to be between seven to eight months, was discovered in the skip bin, tied in two black plastic bags and wrapped in a blood-stained yellow polo-neck jersey, by a man who was searching for scrap metals. He then reported the matter to the police. The deceased’s lifeless body was taken by the police to the Swakopmund State Hospital mortuary for further handling. No arrest has been made yet. Police investigation continues,” Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said.
