THE Namibian police in the Erongo Region are investigating two separate cases of fraud after two bank clients were defrauded, one in Walvis Bay and the other in Henties Bay on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
In the Walvis Bay case, it is alleged that an unknown suspect used an unidentified method to electronically transfer an amount of N$167,000 from a 26-year-old businessman’s account.
The Henties Bay incident involved a telephone call to the owner of the targeted bank account. It is alleged that the unknown suspect made a call to the 76-year-old male, pretended to be a bank official, and convinced the victim to provide his personal information. An amount of N$71,000 was eventually withdrawn unlawfully.
In both cases, no suspects were arrested, and the money has not been recovered.
