A 33-YEAR-OLD male teacher at a primary school in Walvis Bay has been arrested for allegedly raping and indecently assaulting two minor learners at the school.
According to Warrant Officer Tashiya Tuyenikelao, the incidents occurred during 2023 and the first semester of 2024 inside the suspect’s storeroom at a local primary school in Walvis Bay.
“It was alleged that in 2023 during the afternoon hours, the suspect called the first victim to his storeroom and had sexual acts with her under coercive circumstances. It was further alleged that, on another occasion during the first school semester of 2024 the suspect called another victim to the same storeroom and indecently touched her. Both victims are learners at that school and they are aged 16 and 14 respectively,” Warrant Officer Tuyenikelao said.
She added that the teacher is due to appear before the Walvis Bay Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7th October 2024.
