A 10-YEAR-OLD boy, identified as Santos Kalambela, lost his life after the vehicle he was traveling in overturned 1 km outside Karibib.
According to Warrant Officer Tashiya Tuyenikelao of the Erongo police, the motor vehicle accident happened in Usakos on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at around 15:00, approximately 1 km outside Karibib towards the Okahandja B-2 road.
Warrant Officer Tuyenikelao said that it is alleged that young Kalambela lost his life when the driver of the vehicle he was travelling in lost control of the vehicle.
“It was alleged that the Toyota Hilux twin-cab was travelling from Karibib towards the Okahandja B-2 road at the time of the accident. Both the driver and the passenger were allegedly catapulted from the vehicle, and the deceased, who was reportedly the only passenger, sustained head injuries and died on the spot,” Warrant Officer Tuyenikelao said.
She added that while the driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Usakos State Hospital before being transferred to Katutura State Hospital for further treatment. His condition was described as serious but stable.
The deceased’s body was transported from the scene to Karibib Health Centre for certification and then to Usakos State Hospital mortuary for storage.
Next of kin have been informed, and police investigation continues.
