The highly anticipated Bank Windhoek relays will now, according to a statement by the bank, have a cycling category for the first time.

The commercial bank said that the news was shared by Bank Windhoek’s Executive Officer of Marketing and Corporate Communication Services, Jacqueline Pack, on Wednesday, 22 March 2023, where it was also announced that entries for the 2023 Bank Windhoek Relay are now open on the Bank’s website.

“Unique from other running events, the Bank Windhoek Relay is a charitable event that embraces inclusivity, encourages teamwork, and promotes a healthy lifestyle through fitness. As connectors of positive change, Bank Windhoek has used the Relay to support various charitable organisations through funds raised over the past fifteen years,” said Pack.

According to Bank Windhoek, this year’s hybrid event, which is themed ‘Join the Relay Revolution’, will take place on Saturday, 13 May 2023, at the Towerbos Farm on the Daan Viljoen Road, north-western Windhoek.

Entry fees are N$600 per team of four and N$50 for kids’ fun runs between the ages of nine to 13 years old.

Pack further said that participating teams of four people will compete in the following relay categories: walking, running, and cycling as a men’s, women’s, or a mixed group. Each team member will run or walk five kilometres (km) to contribute toward the overall 20 km.

“As for the cycling category, team members will each cycle for 10 km for a team total of 40 km. Teams can register on the Bank Windhoek website until Wednesday, 10 May 2023,” she said.

Participants taking part virtually worldwide must complete their activities between Friday, 5 May 2023 and Sunday, 7 May 2023, at noon.

Participants can take part in the Social Media competition with their teams by posting photos and selfies on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #RelayRevolution or #RR to qualify for the lucky draw, which will take place on Saturday, 13 May 2023.

“The first 25 teams to enter will receive a free Bank Windhoek Relay t-shirt. All proceeds will go towards supporting charity initiatives. Come, journey with us,” Pack concluded.
