RESIDENTS of the Southern town of Keetmanshoop today marched to the magistrate court to oppose the bail of two police officers who are accused of killing Elleste Plaatjie.
The 31-year-old Plaaitjie who died last week Wednesday 18 January 2023, was allegedly amongst three men who were stopped and searched during a routine crime prevention patrol.
The two suspect police officers which are members of the Special Reserve Force, Bernard Mulisa (31) and Willbard Neshuku (25) were denied bail and the case was remanded to 30 January 2023 for legal representation. The bail is currently being opposed. The persecutor general will decide on the way forward on the matter.
The residents, accompanied by activist Michael Amushelelo handed in their petition to the ||Kharas Police Regional Commander and called for an immediate end to police brutality in the region and the entire country.
