THE number of incidents of possessing and or dealing in cannabis has increased drastically in recent days.
Five such incidents were registered by the police in two days, namely Thursday and Friday last week.
A 44-year-old male resident of the Ombombo village in the Opuwo policing area was arrested on Friday following a body search.
He was found in possession of ballies of cannabis and cannabis mixed with tobacco.
Another incident was registered in Windhoek’s Katutura suburb where a suspect was found in possession of cannabis and Mandrax tablets on Thursday. The drugs were confiscated but the suspect managed to escape. He is however known to the police and can be arrested anytime.
Yet another incident was registered at Oshakati where a 42-year-old man was arrested Thursday evening. He was found in possession of two grams of cannabis at a local bar.
Also on Thursday, a 28-year-old man was arrested at Opuwo accused of possessing and dealing in cannabis.
That same day, a 32-year-old man was arrested for the same reasons at Kaguni village in the Kavango-East region.
He was found in possession of cannabis seeds valued N$50.
