THE Namibian police in the Oshikoto Region have impounded a vehicle that was being used to transport close to 1 500 litres of contraband fuel.
A routine police operation stopped a white Mazda pickup on the Oshigambo-Oniipa road during the early morning hours of Friday.
The unknown driver fled and the police discovered that the vehicle was transporting 58 containers of 25 litres each containing contraband fuel valued at N$27 260.
Vehicle and containers has been confiscated and booked in as exhibits.
It is expected that the particulars of the vehicle would eventually help trace the suspect.
