THE Ohangwena Education Regional Directorate office has been temporarily closed after the education director, Isak Hamatwi, and two other staff members tested positive for Covid-19.
Speaking to Informanté, Hamatwi said the office will remain closed until Friday and all staff members are encouraged to get tested.
He indicated that he is recovering well. “I am nursing myself,” he said.

Namibia continues to record an increase in coronavirus cases, of Wednesday 296 new infections were reported out of 1 416 samples tested.
Of these, 258 are new cases and 38 are reinfections.
According to Minister of Health Dr Kalumbi Shangula, a two-week-old baby and a 103-year-old pensioner were amongst the new infections reported in the country.
“Among the confirmed cases 61 are learners from different schools, 19 health care workers, seven teachers, and three students,” he said.
No deaths were reported in the country.
Shangula stated that the number of active cases stands at two 2 032.
Sixty-two of the cases are currently hospitalized in 12 regions of which six are in Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
“We are observing sustained high numbers of cases over the past weeks. We also noted that Covid-19 patients in ICUs are all not vaccinated,” he said.
He added that people should not let the situation get out of hand while there are means to prevent the further spread of the disease.
Shangula urged people to get vaccinated and wear a mask.
