43-YEAR-OLD Mateus Natangwe Amunyela from Okalonga died in a car crash while the 26-year-old driver of the vehicle they travelled in sustained serious injuries.
A case of reckless and/or negligent driving, and driving a vehicle without a license is being investigated by the Namibian police in the Omusati Region.
The incident occurred on Saturday on the Eunda Clinic gravel road at Eunda village.
According to Omusati Regional Commander Commissioner Titus Shikongo, the unlicensed driver of a Toyota Hilux with Outapi registration was driving from the Eunda Clinic to the Eunda T-junction.
“While in a curve, he allegedly lost control over the motor vehicle which resulted in the vehicle overturning,” he said.
Shikongo said the passenger was reportedly thrown out of the vehicle and died on the scene. The driver sustained multiple injuries.
He was transported to the Onesi Health Center and is in stable condition.
