Gondwana hosts Moon Valley Marathon

Gondwana Collection Namibia, alongside various co-sponsors, hosted the SPAR Gondwana Moon Valley Marathon in Swakopmund on Saturday, in which 140 people participated.

The marathon, which was co-sponsored by SPAR, Nova 103.5, OSH-Med International and Two Beards Swakopmund Coffee Roasters, took runners into the Namib Desert and the Moon Valley terrain.

The runners had to choose between a full and half marathon, which started a 6:00, and a 10 km fun run, which started at 8:00.

According to the Gondwana Collection, the top runners in the half marathon managed to cross the finish line before the 10 km marathon even started. These top runners include Paulus Daniel, who won the Men’s Half Marathon in a time of 1:06:23, and Mweshamekange Indileni, who finished first in the Women’s Half Marathon in a time of 01:32:53.

Tomas Hilifa Rainhold and Tangeni Sackaria came second and third in the Men’s Half Marathon respectively and Helena Iipinge and Pamela Vuraya came second and third in the Women’s Half Marathon respectively.

The winner of the Men’s Full Marathon was Andre Ross, who finished in a time of 03:06:13. He was followed by Jaco van den Berg and Luan Reinders.

The fastest woman was Ottilie Aimwata, who finished the race in a time of 03:30:59. She was followed by Anna Amutoku and Marietjie du Plessis.

Megameno Mateus won the Men’s 10 km race, finishing in a time of 36:28. David Iiyambo and Enrich Goeieman came second and third respectively.

Jivanka Kruger won the women’s category, finishing in a time of 00:44:50 and she was followed by Arina Lensing and Ndemufayo Angula.

The winners of the half and full marathon each received Gondwana Value Vouchers as well as prize money, sponsored by SPAR, and the participants who finished the 10 km race participated in a lucky draw and also won various prizes.

Gondwana Collection Namibia acknowledged all participants and helpers who assisted with the marathon. Furthermore, the Group also thanked PayToday for assisting with the registration and timing of the marathon.
