THE spate of violent crimes, especially against women, continues and President Hage Geingob in his Independence Day speech on Monday urged law enforcers to do more and employ new crime-fighting strategies to bring criminals to book.
A 27-year-old man was arrested for murdering 51-year-old Hendriana Kambikiti on Saturday evening.
The suspect also faces charges of rape and robbery.
According to the police crime report, the incident occurred at Oshuushu village in the Ogongo constituency.
“It is alleged that he followed the deceased from the location. He reportedly beat her once on the head with a piece of a broken object and then raped her. The woman died as a result of the beating,” the police said.
The suspect also robbed the deceased of her Nokia cell phone valued at N$300 which was later recovered.
