RESIDENTS in the North have been without running water for two weeks severely affecting communities in and around Omuthiya and Ondangwa, as well as villages along the affected water network.
NamWater earlier implemented water rations due to technical challenges faced at the Calueque scheme but people continue suffering as they have no water supply at all.
Omuthiya Proper and Extension 3 are badly affected by the water crisis that equally affects Ondangwa in the Oshana Region.
Residents said parts of Ondangwa still have no water.
Ondangwa resident Andreas Tangeni said many of them have not bathed for days as they are not getting any water, not even after rationing hours.
Another resident, Lydia Sylver, said many people fetch water from their friends who live in areas where water is available at times.
The rationing has been extended for another two weeks. From 22:00 to 05:00 and from 11:00 to 15:00 daily taps will be dry.
NamWater has in the meantime placed a water tank at the Omuthiya town council to assist residents.
Water was also distributed to the hospital and the Ekulo Secondary School.
Despite residents’ upset, Ondangwa Town spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said that “water supply was interrupted but the issue has been resolved”.
