TRANSNAMIB Communication Manager Abigail Raubenheimer said their transportation service has not been in any way affected after a train derailed and two wagons capsized due to wash-aways, spilling transported fuel.
The incident occurred last week between Kombat and Grootfontein and no fatalities were recorded.

Raubenheimer explained that at the time of the accident, the area experienced heavy rainfall the previous night which resulted in the misfortune.
“The rainy season has had a significant impact on TransNamib’s operations,” Raubenheimer said, adding that this is the second accident reported since the beginning of the year.
The first accident happened between Guibes and Schakkalskuppe in January, when a locomotive and four wagons capsized and derailed, also as a result of wash-aways. No personnel was injured.
