TWO suitcases; 28 pairs of shoes; 22 ladies tops; 90 ladies dresses and 20 men’s shirts were among items stolen when unknown suspects broke into a clothes shop at Ongwediva during the early morning hours of Saturday.
The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be N$114 500.
According to the police, the crime was committed between 04:00 and 06:00.
The burglars used unknown objects to break the front door of the Happy Fashion Boutique in the Pama Pharmacy complex.
The police are requesting members of the public who find people selling those items to contact the nearest police station.
“People should not buy stolen goods, because if found with them, a case will be opened against them and they will be arrested too,” said Nampol’s Inspector Thomas Aiyambo.
Another incident of housebreaking was reported at Ongwediva, also on Saturday, but in this case the criminals targeted a house in the Better Housing part of the town.
It is alleged that the complainant, a 51-year-old lady who was alone at home, went to bed around 22:30 leaving all the doors properly locked with all the things in order, but when she woke up the next day at around 06:00, she noticed that the doors to some rooms were open.
She then discovered that the house was broken into and practically emptied of all valuable items.
The criminals got away with a 49 inch Samsung smart TV and its black remote control plus a DStv remote control; a deep freezer; a microwave; a cake mixer; one duvet inner blanket; one Zebra home choice blanket; two white pedestal vans; a 3-metre extension cable and three pairs of shoes.
The total value of the stolen items is estimated at close to N$30 000.
No one was arrested yet in connection with the two incidents and the stolen items were not recovered.
