NEW infections of Covid-19 have radically increased in the Khomas Region in the last 24-hour reporting cycle, the Ministry of Health has warned.
No cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in Namibia so far.
From 1 531 test samples results in the last reporting cycle, 45 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed. The active cases stand at 163. No deaths were reported.
According to the Ministry, new cases in Khomas rose by 85%, an increment of 84% nationally.
“This is a clear indication that we need to change our behaviours if we are to curb further transmission. Let us be reminded that the second wave peaked on 13 December 2020. Let us guard that this does not happen again this year,” Minister of Health Dr Kalumbi Shangula said.
The Minister once again urged Namibians to remain alert and adhere to preventative measures.
