JEREMIAH Immanuel, who was arrested yesterday after he assaulted and stabbed his husband, Mr Gay Namibia, Wendelinus Hamutenya, appeared at the Katutura magistrate court this afternoon.
The 31-year-old Immanuel made his first appearance before Magistrate Dennis Shivangulula and informed the court that he would apply for a private lawyer.
Immanuel has been charged with attempted murder and assault.
It is alleged that on Monday, 29 November, in the district of Katutura, the suspect assaulted Hamutenya by stabbing him with a knife all over his body with the intent to murder him.
Public Prosecutor Arie Husselmann requested that the matter be postponed to 11 February 2022 for further police investigations and legal representation for the accused.
She further noted that the complainant in the matter has been hospitalised and that the state fears that the accused may interfere with witnesses.
To this Immanuel responded that he was visited by family while in custody, who informed him that the complainant does not have a problem with him getting bail.
The Public Prosecutor told the presiding officer that this can be reviewed in the formal bail application at a later date.
Immanuel was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 11 February.
