THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) will next week Monday provide the All People’s Party (APP) the rejected 57 ballots from last year’s regional council election in Ndonga Linena constituency in Kavango East Region.
The court order was made by a full bench consisting of Justices Boas Uusiku, Hanellie Prinsloo and Nate Ndauendapo.
The ECN’s Chief Electoral Officer, Theo Mujoro, today said that the ECN will fully comply with the order.
The handing over of the rejected ballots, he said, will take place next week Monday at 10h00.

“We have written to their lawyers informing them about the arrangements. I suspect what the APP will do is go back to the Electoral court to lodge a new application, with the aim to get the court to order a recount of the ballots of entire process for that particular constituency,” Mujoro said.
Swapo candidate Michael Kampota was declared the winner of the elections in the Ndonga Linena constituency, with 12 votes more than APP candidate Daniel Djami.
The two candidates received 1073 votes and 1061 votes, respectively.
Henry Shimutwikeni represented the APP, which argued that the spoiled ballots were not spoiled as per the law.
The party claims that about 40 ballots were made to look like they were spoiled but were in fact not.
