THE body of the 28-year-old Tuukondjele Petrus, a mentally challenged man from the Iipandayamiti village, was discovered floating in a water pan and the cause of his death is currently under investigation.
Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the discovery was made by school children who were crossing the water pan on Thursday at around 14:00.
According to Shikongo, Petrus was last seen alive in the area surrounding the village on Monday.
“His decomposed body was only discovered in the water pan on Thursday, ” he said.
Shikongo stated that the Petrus’s body was kept at the mortuary of the Etayi police station but that his remains were further transported to the Okahao police mortuary where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of his death.
The incident is registered as an inquest which means that no foul play is suspected for the time being.
The results of the post mortem examination will determine how the investigation into the death of Petrus will proceed.
