MEMBERS of the Namibian Police during February have confiscated illicit drugs worth just short of N$2.65 million during the arrest of 96 people that were found in possession of the contraband.
According to the monthly seizure and arrest report provided by Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the head of NamPol’s Public Relations Division, officers apprehended 91 Namibians, one Congolese national, one Burundian national, one German national, one Malian national, and one person from Mozambique.
All of the suspects face charges of possession and dealing in illicit drugs
In the process 219 kilograms of dagga worth N$2 189 830, 105 Mandrax tablets worth N$12 600, 102 grams of cocaine powder worth N$51 000, and 114 pieces of crack cocaine worth N$11 400 were seized by arresting officers.
The numbers provided by Deputy Commissioner Shikwambi represent operations conducted by various sub-divisions of NamPol during February.
