THE Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform Calle Schlettwein was praised during his visit to Eenhana as one of the few ministers that came down to the communities in the region to listen to their cries and concerns.
Schlettwein, who is on a fact-finding mission to the various regions since last week addressed traditional leaders, farmers and regional councillors in Oshikoto, Oshana, Omusati and Ohangwena before departing for Kavango West and East regions on matters related to the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in other parts of northern Namibia.
He also briefed the communities on the government’s water infrastructure development program.
Speaker after speaker during Schlettwein’s visit at Eenhana on Monday commended him for being the only minister that is visible on the ground.
“We are at the beginning of the year, but so far Schlettwein remains the only minister to assess the situation on the ground, while others are just relaxed in their offices in Windhoek,” said one of the farmers.
Eenhana Town Mayor Omri-Onn Kavandje, in his welcoming remarks during the official inauguration of the NamWater reservoir and defluoridation plant at the town, said Schlettwein was the first minister to arrive in Eenhana since the start of 2021.
Kavandje stated that his coming is a sign of goodwill not only for Eenhana but the whole region.
