BYSTANDERS and passers-by showed sympathy with a vendor whose wheelbarrow was overturned by Oshana Security guards a few meters from the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital’s main gate, leaving cases of fresh grapes scattered on the ground.
“The guy is just trying to make an honest living man, leave him alone. He does not want to steal,” shouted a taxi driver from the nearby taxi rank.
Several other people directed angry words at the guards accusing them of abusing their powers. Some even accused them of being jealous.
But the guards stood their ground.
“We chased him away and warned him several times, but he keeps coming back to the same spot where no street vendors are allowed. We are just doing our job,” they said.
