Navy divers recovers body of missing boy

THE body of the 12-year-old Isai Tangeni Weyulu was recovered by divers of the Namibian Navy on Independence Beach in Walvis Bay on Monday morning after he was reported missing by his guardian on Sunday.

 

According to the incident report provided by the Namibian Police in the Erongo Region, the boy went to the beach for a day of swimming and fun with his family and friends on Sunday.

 

“At some stage the guardian noticed that the boy was nowhere to be found and after a desperate search reported him missing at the Tutaleni Police Station in Walvis Bay,” the report reads.

Another search with the help of the Namibian Police was launched for the missing boy.

 

When he could not be found, the help of the Namibian Navy Divers was called in to continue the search in the water off the beach.

 

According to the report the divers resumed the search for the missing boy on Monday and that they discovered the body after it washed ashore.

 

According to the report, no foul play is suspected at this stage of the investigation.

 

It is suspected that the victim drowned while swimming with his friends, but a post mortem will be performed to determine the actual cause of death.
