A WOMAN from the Ohangwena Region is in critical condition after she was hacked with an axe by her husband, who hung himself after the violent incident.
According to the Namibian Police crime bulletin, the incident happened on Saturday around midnight at Epembe.
It is alleged that the husband, 48-year-old Hesekiel Naftal and his wife were drinking together at a cucashop when Naftal left for home early and his wife remained behind.
Once home, the wife was heard screaming before the neighbours found her outside the bedroom with severe wounds on the head.
Naftal’s body was found hanging from the roof inside the bedroom and a small axe and blood stains on the floor.
It is suspected that Naftal hacked his wife with the axe and committed suicide thereafter.
The victim was transported to the Eenhana hospital in a critical condition and was later transferred to the Oshakati hospital for further medical attention.
In another violent affair, a 43-year-old man was arrested after he stabbed another man that he found in his shack with his girlfriend.
The incident happened at about 21:00 at Hafeni garage, Onandjaba settlement in the Omusati Region.
It is alleged that the victim ran away after he was found in the room of the suspect with his girlfriend, but that the suspect chased after him and stabbed him with an Okapi knife in the abdomen.
The victim was rushed to the Oshikuku Catholic Hospital and later transferred to Oshakati Intermediate Hospital and is in a stable condition.
The suspect will appear at the Outapi Magistrate Court tomorrow.
