A 43-year-old woman employed as a security guard by Shilimela Security, who was only armed with a stick while on duty, was raped while guarding a school.
According to the Namibian Police weekend crime report, a case of rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and theft were reported when the security guard was raped on Friday, 22 January 2021, at around 21:00 at Otjiwanda Secondary School, Grootfontein.
It is alleged that the woman was severely assaulted, raped and her cellphone stolen by an unknown man while guarding the school alone.
It is further alleged that the victim was only armed with a stick.
No arrest has yet been made and police investigations continue.
In another incident, a 13-year-old girl escaped an unknown man who attempted to rape her at Outjo.
The incident happened on Friday between 18:00 and 19:00 in the bushes behind Saamstan location, Etoshapoort Outjo.
It is alleged that the suspect grabbed and pulled the victim into the bushes and pulled off her clothes while threatening her with a knife, but she managed to run away.
The suspect is not yet arrested since he ran away, but police investigations are ongoing.
