THE 57-year-old Alfeus Heingo died when he was flung from a frontend loader that rolled down a hill at a marble mine near Karibib on Monday.
According to the incident report provided by the Namibian Police in the Erongo Region, the tragic accident occurred at about 11h30.
It is alleged that the driver lost control over the heavy earth moving machine while it was moving marble blocks up a hill at the mine of Fame Stone Distributors.
The out of control frontend loader eventually rolled down the hill and in the process both the driver and Heingo were flung through the air.
Heingo passed away where he fell, while the driver was not seriously injured.
He was treated at a private health facility in Omaruru and was discharged a few hours later.
According to the report, a case of culpable homicide was registered with the Namibian Police in Karibib, while an investigation into the actual cause of the accident has started.
