THE wife of a staff member at Namibia’s diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia was arrested by that country’s law enforcement agencies after she reportedly murdered two of her children.
The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah, today confirmed the unfortunate incident in Addis Ababa in an official statement.
The suspect also attempted to murder her third child, but an intervention by a yet unknown person saved the child’s life.
According to the statement, the third child was admitted in hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Bertha Amakali, confirmed that the woman was placed under arrest by the police in Addis Ababa shortly after the incident.
Amakali said more details about when and where the murder suspect will appear in court will be made available during the week.
Nandi-Ndaitwah in her statement expressed condolences with the grieving family and asked Namibians to respect their privacy as they absorb the sad and shocking news.
