THE ONSLAUGHT of rape against women and children carried on over the past weekend, with a total of three minor girls and two women that were raped over the weekend.
According to the Namibian police crime bulletin a 35-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly entered the bedroom of a ten-year-old girl’s room and raped her at Onkumbula village, Onayena.
The incident happed on Saturday, 28 November 2020, at around 01h00. It is alleged that the suspect raped the little girl after he entered her bedroom while she was sleeping.
The victim managed to report the matter to her aunt on the same day and the Police were notified. The suspect was arrested but not yet charged. The Police investigation is still ongoing.
In another incident of rap, a 27-year-old man was arrested after he raped a 15-year-old girl in Ondangwa.
The incident happened on Friday, 27 November 2020 at about 07:00 at Okiimbi village. It is alleged that the suspect is well-known in the area. He found the children walking to school and he called one pretending to have fish for a staff member at the school.
It is further alleged that suspect ended up pulling the girl inside the house where he is staying and further pulled her inside his sleeping room. The suspect pushed her onto the bed and he removed both his clothes and that of the victim before raping her. He further threatened the teenager not to scream nor report the matter to the police or else she risk being beaten up. The suspect was arrested. Police investigation continues.
In another incident, an 18-year-old boy was taken into custody after he raped a 12-year-old girl. The incident happened in Outjo, on Saturday, 28 November 2020 at about 19h00 in the bushes between the Saamstaan location and ‡Oabatere location, Etoshapoort.
According to the victim, she went to buy an ice block at the house of the suspect, on her way out the suspect pulled her on the arm, saying that she must help him. The victim further alleged that the suspect pulled off her clothes and had sexual intercourse with her while they were seated. The victim and the suspect were taken to the hospital for medical examination. The suspect was arrested and detained.
A 35-year-old man from Mariental is accused of raping a 22-year-old woman whilst she was intoxicated at his residence.
The incident took place on Friday, 27 November 2020 around 02:00 in Aimablaagte. The suspect has not been arrested yet. Police investigation continues.
In another incident, an unknown man from Swakopmund is on the loose after he allegedly kidnapped and raped a 23-year-old woman after she asked him for a lift.
The incident of kidnapping and rape happened on Wednesday, 25 November 2020 about 13:00 at the open space close to the dumping site.
The suspect drove with the complainant to the side of the dumping site and raped her.
The suspect is not arrested yet. Police investigation continues.
